Disable protocols on Windows TAP Adapter

When using PandaPow the only relevant protocol is IPv4. By default, however, the TAP adapter used on Windows supports a number of other protocols, mainly used in local networks. These can safely be disabled, and this may also solve some other, seemingly, unrelated problems on Windows.

Below follows how to do this.

Windows 10

In the system tray, bottom right of the screen, right-click the network icon and select Open Network and Sharing Center. To the left in the window, click Change adapter settings.

Right-click the adapter that says TAP-Windows Adapter V9 and select Properties. Now deselect all protocols except Internet Protocol Version 4. See below image for reference.

Click OK and no try connecting PandaPow again.

Windows Vista/7/8

From the Start menu open the Control Panel and click Network and Sharing Center. To the left in the window, click Change adapter settings.

Right-click the adapter that says TAP-Windows Adapter V9 and select Properties. Now deselect all protocols except Internet Protocol Version 4

Click OK and now try connecting PandaPow again.

Windows XP

Click Start then Control Panel. You may have to click Switch to Classic View. Double click Network Connections . Right-click the adapter that says TAP-Windows Adapter V9 and select Properties. Now deselect all protocols except Internet Protocol Version 4
