Use PandaPow PPTP or L2TP on Windows

In some cases the normal PandaPow VPN on Windows can’t be used. In these cases we can also offer the use of PPTP or L2TP, as an alternative. It requires no software installation, so it can be used in more circumstances.

To use it all you need is to download the PandaPow PPTP/L2TP phone book. This is what it’ll look like when you open it.

For more instructions see appropriate section below.

Windows Vista/7/8

Right-click the following link and save it to your Desktop.

PandaPow PPTP/L2TP phonebook for Windows Vista and Windows 7

Go to your Desktop and double click the downloaded PandaPow phonebook to open it.

Then select the server to connect to.

If you connect to an L2TP server, you must fill in the pre-shared key, as follows:

  • Click Properties, go to the the Security tab and click the Advanced Settingsbutton, make sure “Use preshared key for authentication” is selected, then fill in the following pre-shared key: HowEasy

Note: on Windows Vista the preshared key is found in the Networking tab, under IPSec Settings

Note: The pre-shared key isn’t needed for PPTP servers, only L2TP.

To connect, click the Connect button then fill in your PandaPow username and password, check the check-box to save the password, then connect.

To disconnect, you need to open the PandaPow phonebook again and click the Hang up button.
